About the Role

Thorburn Security Solutions is seeking a Grade C Security Officer to support site safety and protection operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for securing premises, protecting people and property, and maintaining vigilance through surveillance and patrol duties. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role requires a professional, alert, and service-oriented individual.

Key Responsibilities

Protect staff, visitors, buildings, and movable assets
Conduct regular patrols of the premises
Monitor surveillance and alarm systems
Inspect facilities and equipment to detect security risks
Control access to and from the site, checking credentials and screening visitors
Report irregularities and intervene when policies are violated
Respond to security emergencies, alarms, or incidents
Maintain clear and accurate records of incidents and daily activities
Direct traffic on-site where necessary
Perform preventive maintenance checks on equipment
Uphold a high standard of customer service and professionalism
Remain compliant with company policies and legal security standards

Required Qualifications and Certifications

Grade 11–12 or equivalent
Valid PSIRA Grade C registration (compulsory)
Valid driver’s license (advantageous)
Computer literacy certificate (advantageous)

Skills and Competencies

Strong verbal and written communication
Good interpersonal and customer service skills
Detail-oriented with a high level of vigilance
Experience with access control and patrolling
Assertiveness, confidence, and professionalism
Ability to work well under pressure
Knowledge of school or university environments is advantageous
Reliable, accountable, and a strong team player
