About the Opportunity:

Gold Fields’ South Deep Mine is offering Engineering Learnerships in the Rigger / Ropesman discipline for aspiring individuals from its host communities. The program is aimed at developing skilled artisans through formal training and practical experience.

Host Communities:

Applicants must reside in one of the following areas:

Bekkersdaal
Zuurberkom
Thusanang
Hillshaven
Westonaria
Poortjie
Simunye
Kalbasfontein
Jachtfontein

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Science
Full N2 Qualification with 4 trade-specific subjects:
- Engineering Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- N2 Rigging Trade Theory
- Engineering Drawing
Must pass a medical fitness test, Heat Tolerance Screening, and any additional assessments
Must not have any pre-existing health conditions that could affect safety underground

Key Responsibilities:

Complete technical and short-course training as per MQA and mine requirements
Maintain consistent performance and actively seek feedback
Follow the company’s policies, employment conditions, and code of conduct
Uphold safety standards and wear PPE at all times
