Job Summary
Purpose of the Position:
To ensure the efficient operation of boilers in the production process while maintaining safety, quality standards, and adhering to operational guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Boiler Operation:
- Operate boilers in line with established guidelines.
- Evaluate coal quality and provide feedback on its suitability.
- Conduct daily tests on boiler components and water quality.
- Follow proper shift change procedures.
- Use a tractor to feed boilers with coal where necessary.
- Record and report the utilization of steam and water.
Equipment Cleaning:
- Clean boiler equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage detergent measurements for cleaning purposes.
- Collect and submit water samples to the laboratory for testing.
- Maintain cleanliness of the boiler house and surrounding areas.
Safety and Maintenance:
- Comply with safety standards and conduct safety inspections.
- Maintain equipment, including the tractor and water softener plant.
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 or equivalent NQF4 qualification.
- Experience: Practical knowledge of job-related concepts, techniques, and processes.
- Language: Fluent in business English.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Capability to operate in extreme conditions.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
