Job Summary
The General Worker is responsible for performing various warehouse duties, including stock-taking, binning, picking, packing, checking, and maintaining cleanliness to ensure smooth warehouse operations.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Binning:
- Allocate incoming merchandise to appropriate bin locations.
- Replenish inventory from bulk to pick locations as per SOPs.
- Assign new products to bin locations and update records accordingly.
- Assist with replenishment tasks and report updates to supervisors.
- Ensure incoming goods are received and verified against company standards.
2. Picking:
- Pick orders accurately and promptly to meet order deadlines.
- Utilize bulk locations only when necessary to maintain inventory integrity.
- Perform double checks to ensure customer satisfaction and prevent inventory loss.
- Assist with stock-taking procedures.
3. Scanner Control:
- Distribute scanners to operators daily and log their issue electronically.
- Inspect returned scanners for damage and log them back into stock.
- Report scanner damages to the supervisor.
- Maintain a daily scanner issue spreadsheet.
4. General Duties:
- Ensure daily housekeeping tasks are completed.
- Follow operational procedures to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Adhere to instructions and achieve set operational targets consistently.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) with literacy and numeracy proficiency.
- Experience:
- At least 3 years in a warehouse/logistics environment (desirable).
- Knowledge of spares, motor, or engine parts and warehouse systems.
Skills and Attributes
- High efficiency, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
- Self-motivated, with a willingness to exceed expectations.
