Job Overview
Lindsay Saker VW East Rand is offering an Accredited Competency-Based Modular Training (CBMT) Apprenticeship. This program includes a combination of on-the-job training (OJT) and classroom instruction under the guidance of a Qualified Motor Vehicle Mechanic. The Motus Technical Training Academy (MTTA) will provide theoretical and classroom-based education.
Training Program Details
Duration: 4 years (Levels 1–4).
Structure:
- 5 days of classroom training every 5 weeks at MTTA.
- Distance learning via CDX, including interactive demonstrations, tutorials, quizzes, and practical exercises accessible online.
- Computer-based testing and examinations.
- Practical competency assessments.
- On-the-job training at Lindsay Saker East Rand’s Service Department.
Requirements:
- Gather evidence for a Portfolio of Evidence as required by ITTA.
- Assist a qualified technician with vehicle inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
- Work towards performing quality service independently.
Terms and Conditions:
- CBMT contract with merSETA and a learnership contract with Lindsay Saker East Rand.
- MIBCO minimum wages apply.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science, or
- N2 with Mathematics, Engineering Science, and English (minimum 50%).
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Computer literacy.
- Pass a mechanical insight test.
- Complete background checks and medical assessments.
- Undergo a psychometric assessment and face-to-face interview if shortlisted.
