About the Role
The ARC-Tropical and Subtropical Crops division (ARC-TSC) is seeking 10 hardworking and motivated individuals to assist with farm-related operations. This position is perfect for those with a keen interest in agricultural practices, particularly in tropical and subtropical crops. The selected candidates will be responsible for performing hands-on tasks in the farm environment and supporting the farm management team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform various farm practices as instructed by farm management.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment provided by the organization.
- Assist with the harvesting, planting, and maintenance of fruit crops.
- Carry out manual tasks, including the upkeep of farm areas, pruning, and cleaning.
- Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety standards to ensure a safe working environment.
- Utilize basic farm machinery and tools such as brush cutters and chainsaws when necessary.
What We Are Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Grade 10 or equivalent exposure to a fruit farming environment.
Experience:
- Previous experience in harvesting tropical and subtropical fruits will be a significant advantage.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Basic understanding of general agricultural practices and techniques.
- Knowledge of safe manual operation of farming tools and equipment (e.g., chainsaws, brush cutters).
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with the farm team.
- Awareness and adherence to health and safety procedures on-site.
Other Requirements:
- Physically fit and willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to take instructions well.
