About the Learnership Program
This two-year structured Plant/Mining Learnership Programme at Sishen Mine offers practical and theoretical training in plant and mining operations. It equips unemployed South African youth, especially those from labour-sending areas, with essential skills for the mining sector.

Responsibilities
Safety, Health, and Environment
- Adhere to health and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace.
- Participate in SLAMs (Stop, Look, Assess, Manage), HPHs (High Potential Hazards), and risk assessments.
Performance and Training Delivery
- Attend theoretical and practical training sessions.
- Perform supervised tasks in plant and mining operations.
- Assist with daily plant activities, equipment monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Develop technical skills in mining processes and production optimization.
- Complete assessments to demonstrate progress.
- Maintain training documentation and reports.
Community Engagement
- Represent Anglo American positively in interactions with local communities.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12/N3 Technical or equivalent.
- South African citizen with a valid ID.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proof of residential address.
Skills and Competencies
- Technical aptitude to follow instructions and perform calculations.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety, PPE, and environmental management.
- Introductory knowledge of plant and mining environments.
Additional Information
This role is part of the People & Organisation (P&O) department and reports to the LD Supervisor HME/Processing at a band X2 level.
