Job Title: Tailings Dam Operator
Reference Number: FA-1001
Location: North West
Purpose of the Position
To ensure that all planned operational targets for the deposition of tailings are met on time and to the required quality as per contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the team leader/supervisor to achieve planned operational targets.
- Conduct daily inspections of designated areas of responsibility.
- Plan and manage the tailings material on-site and in the depositing areas.
- Assist with problem-solving on operational challenges and report any deviations to the immediate supervisor.
- Adhere to discipline procedures in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations as per safety legislation and company procedures.
- Assist with the extension and connection of pipelines.
- Open and close valves in line with operational requirements.
- Take responsibility for personal performance and ensure continuous improvement.
- Maintain good housekeeping at all times to ensure a clean and organized work environment.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 or Equivalent
Experience
- 0 – 2 years of relevant experience in an earth-moving or similar environment.
- Tailings Dam Operation experience in the mining or related industry for at least 2 years will be advantageous.
Skills, Qualities, and Abilities
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong planning and organizing abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and be observant.
- Innovative and action-oriented approach.
General Requirements
- Must be able to understand relevant standard operating procedures.
- Medically fit to work in a mining environment.
- Must pass the mine’s criminal screening process.
- Flexibility to work overtime when required.
