About the Position

Henwil Chickens is seeking a Butchery Supervisor with expertise in meat preparation and excellent customer service skills. The successful candidate will oversee butchery operations, manage stock, ensure hygiene standards, and provide exceptional service to customers.


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 certificate (essential).
  • Knowledge of meat preparation techniques and cuts.
  • Relevant experience in a butchery environment (advantageous).
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (advantageous).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Personal qualities: integrity, honesty, reliability.

Duties and Responsibilities

Stock Management

  • Oversee stock control, rotation, and ordering.
  • Ensure the department is well-stocked.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Ensure operations adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment.

Hygiene Standards

  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene policies.
  • Supervise daily cleaning of production areas, fridges, and chillers.

Operations

  • Accurately weigh, price, and label meat products.
  • Monitor meat quality and packaging for freshness.
  • Receive and process merchandise for the butchery.
  • Merchandise and pack meat products for retail and bulk sales.

Customer Interaction

  • Provide expert advice to customers on meat products.
  • Assist customers with product selection and ensure satisfaction.

Team Management

  • Supervise butchery staff to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Foster high morale among team members.

Sales & Targets

  • Drive sales and customer service excellence.
  • Minimize product and packaging wastage.
  • Participate in stock-taking activities.
