Job Purpose
Bidvest International Logistics is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Entries Clerk to join its International Logistics team in Cape Town.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and processing customs entries, verifying clearing documentation, facilitating customs releases, and liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure efficient and accurate customs clearance processes.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
Matric.
Customs Affairs Course or equivalent.
Forwarding course or equivalent will be an advantage.
Minimum 5 years' industry-related experience.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare draft Bills of Entry on Compu-Clearing (CCL) and CargoWise.
Receive clearing files and instructions from Business Units and clients.
Verify the accuracy and completeness of clearing documentation.
Batch import files in preparation for EDI upload.
Facilitate the release of Customs Stops/Detains, including other third-party releases.
Liaise with relevant parties to obtain final release.
Ensure customs clearance processes are completed accurately and efficiently.
Perform duties in accordance with applicable customs and company procedures.
Skills & Competencies
The successful candidate should have:
Working knowledge of Compu-Clearing (CCL) and CargoWise.
Working knowledge of the Manual for the Completion and Presentation of Declaration will be an advantage.
Knowledge of documents required to effect customs clearance.
Ability to tariff-classify goods in accordance with the General Rules for the Interpretation (GRI) of classification.
Ability to type quickly and accurately in an organised manner.
Effective communication skills at all levels.
An enquiring mind and willingness to learn new functions.
Ability to work effectively under pressure.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
