About the Internship
Premier FMCG is offering an exciting 12-month internship opportunity for aspiring Laboratory and Quality Assurance professionals at its Pretoria Wheat Mill. This programme is designed to provide practical workplace exposure and hands-on experience within a laboratory and production environment.
The successful candidate will report directly to the QA/QC Manager and gain valuable industry experience in laboratory processes, quality control procedures, and food production standards.
Key Responsibilities
The intern will receive training and exposure in the following areas:
• Sampling of raw materials, in-line production, and final products for laboratory analysis
• Performing and verifying laboratory work affecting test results
• Ensuring the effectiveness and accuracy of laboratory activities
• Conducting analysis of test items for internal and external customers
• Reporting laboratory test results
• Capturing and controlling data within the Laboratory Management System (LIMS)
• Chemical preparation according to approved methodologies
• Updating and maintaining laboratory records and documentation
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 Certificate
• Currently completing a Diploma (3rd or final year) in:
Food Technology
Biotechnology
Experience
• No prior work experience required
Skills and Competencies
• Knowledge of safe laboratory practices
• Proper handling and use of laboratory equipment
• Understanding of analytical techniques
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain concentration for extended periods
• Good computer skills, especially MS Excel and database systems
• Ability to work independently and under pressure
• Basic equipment verification knowledge
• Good reporting and communication skills
Programme Information
• This is a 12-month internship programme
• The programme will be based at the Premier Pretoria Wheat Mill in Gauteng
• The successful candidate will report to the QA/QC Manager
