Position Overview:

An exciting opportunity is available for a confident and driven individual to lead the New Vehicle Sales Department at Hyundai Alberton. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing a team of sales executives, improving profitability, managing marketing activities, and ensuring customer satisfaction. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong business acumen and proven success in a high-volume sales environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Sales & Profitability

  • Meet or exceed dealership sales and profit targets

  • Ensure stock turnover meets required levels

  • Drive local market penetration

  • Manage showroom and forecourt space effectively

  • Maximise sales of extras and value-added products

  • Manage pricing, contracts, and customer leads efficiently

  • Ensure new car stock is sold at a profit

  • Monitor advertising budgets and effectiveness

Team Leadership

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of 8 sales executives (experienced and new)

  • Conduct regular training and performance reviews

  • Use tools like Higher Gear and Bid4Cars to drive performance

  • Create and monitor individual sales targets

  • Foster accountability and discipline within the team

Customer Service

  • Improve conversion rates from walk-ins and showroom leads

  • Resolve complaints effectively and ensure excellent customer service

  • Ensure all sales staff receive customer relations training

Cost Control & Administration

  • Manage departmental costs and monitor monthly accounts

  • Ensure accurate administrative records and compliance with dealership procedures

  • Maintain dealership cleanliness, security, and vehicle presentation

Marketing & Promotions

  • Plan and execute new car launches and sales promotions

  • Analyse customer trends and align marketing plans accordingly

  • Collaborate with other department managers and manufacturers’ representatives

Finance & Compliance

  • Review pricing, trade-ins, and discount strategies

  • Monitor demonstrator fleet condition and usage

  • Oversee finance and credit commission income

  • Ensure compliance with vehicle legislation and trade practices


Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Higher Certificate (minimum)

  • Sales or technical qualifications (advantageous)

  • At least 3 years' experience in a similar sales management environment

  • Volume dealership experience (45+ new cars/month)

  • Experience managing a sales team (minimum 8 members)

  • Strong understanding of financial, online, and marketing processes

  • Familiarity with Higher Gear and Bid4Cars systems

  • Complaint handling and resolution experience (internal and external)
