Purpose of the Job

Medirite Plus Arcon Park is looking for a dedicated Assistant Branch Manager to support store operations and maximize sustainable branch sales. The role involves managing unscheduled product lines (e.g. skincare, cosmetics, vitamins, personal care), minimizing losses, maintaining stock levels, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales Maximization

Drive branch gross profit through effective management of key sales drivers
Maintain appropriate stock holding and ordering practices
Ensure consistent adherence to stock price changes
Address and correct poor sales staff performance

2. Minimization of Wastage and Shrinkage

Identify causes of wastage and take corrective action
Implement shrinkage control measures for high-risk items

3. Branch Sales Reporting

Submit timely and accurate reports to the Regional Retail Manager
Identify opportunities and risks; recommend proactive solutions

4. Effective Merchandising & Stock Availability

Maintain store merchandising standards as per company layouts
Ensure promotional displays are in place as required
Monitor stock range availability and arrange inter-branch transfers as needed

5. Customer Experience

Create a consumer-friendly environment to boost customer loyalty
Consistently meet and exceed customer expectations

6. People Management

Lead, coach, and motivate staff to meet performance and service goals
Oversee training and skills development for direct reports
Handle staff grievances and disciplinary matters appropriately

7. Housekeeping, Health & Safety

Maintain hygiene and housekeeping standards
Ensure compliance with audits, legislation, and safety regulations

Qualifications

Essential: Grade 12 (Matric)

Experience

Essential: Minimum 2 years’ experience in retail sales management or a supervisory role

Knowledge and Skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Sound numeracy and retail sales knowledge
Fluent in Afrikaans and English (bilingual preferred)
Leadership and administrative competence
Excellent customer service abilities
Understanding of payment processes (cash, card, vouchers, etc.)
Knowledge of supply chain, merchandising, and regulatory requirements
Familiarity with retail systems (e.g., ShopPos, OBS)
Health and safety awareness
