Main Purpose
Assist patients with admissions and discharges professionally, prevent operational and financial risks, and exceed client expectations.
Key Responsibilities

Capture and process admissions (including pre-admissions/bookings) as per procedure
-
Identify and prevent financial risks by following policies and procedures
-
Manage an effective discharge process according to the Patient Administration Manual
-
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Required Education & Experience
-
Essential: Grade 12 or equivalent
-
Desired: Reception administration experience, preferably in private healthcare
Required Skills & Knowledge
-
Proficient with Debtpack Enquiry application (for checking outstanding balances)
-
Understanding of admission, bed functions, discharge, and preparation processes
-
Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology
-
Experience with hospital switchboard systems
-
Familiarity with Patient Administration policies and AS400 system
-
Knowledge of ICD and CPT coding
-
Understanding Medical Aid Schemes and private healthcare environment
-
Awareness of Workman’s Compensation Act (WCA) processes
-
Knowledge of emergency protocols (fire, floods, robbery)
-
Ability to identify financial risks such as blacklisted patients and handling valuables
-
Computer literate, especially Microsoft Office
