Job Purpose

To ensure the accurate and timely processing and reconciliation of financial transactions for the region in accordance with Emirates’ financial procedures and local legislation. This includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and payroll.


Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

  • Manage all payable functions for the station and possibly regional countries.

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices.

  • Maintain up-to-date supplier contracts and switch to electronic invoicing (EDI) where possible.

  • Verify rates diligently in the DMS system.

  • Process payments within company guidelines, ideally via EFT.

  • Monitor AP reports and correct errors promptly.

  • Respond efficiently to supplier queries.

Accounts Receivable

  • Manage receivable activities for passenger and cargo sales.

  • Process receipts and allocate them correctly to customer accounts.

  • Ensure banking is completed within agreed timeframes.

  • Reconcile BSP/credit card party accounts and report shortfalls.

  • Review daily bank reconciliations and account entries promptly.

  • Collaborate with Commercial to address under-collections.

  • Follow up on outstanding debt in line with group policies.

General Ledger

  • Process journals accurately to meet monthly deadlines.

  • Prepare reconciliations and standard reports for audit and review.

  • Support local tax filing and monthly KPI submissions.

  • Prepare and review bank reconciliations.

  • Assist with the repatriation of surplus funds in accordance with policy.

  • Provide support to the Financial Controller on various projects.

Payroll

  • Compile and process payroll elements in compliance with local laws.

  • Ensure timely submission of taxes, pensions, and social security contributions.

  • Prepare payroll data for financial reporting.

  • Consult legal advisors on compliance issues.

  • Manage staff expenses, loans, and salary advances.

  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts and petty cash returns.

  • Ensure mobile and personal call charges are recovered.

  • Handle pension account queries and reconciliations.


Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Professional qualification (e.g., Chartered Accountant, CPA) preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years professional finance experience.

  • At least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of local laws, payroll, and compliance.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure.

  • Supervisory and coaching experience in a multinational environment.

  • Familiarity with MS Office, ERP systems, and financial software.

  • Airline accounting and IATA regulation knowledge is an advantage.

  • Must have the legal right to live and work in South Africa.
