Do you have fire in your belly and purpose in your heart? Nando’s is looking for a passionate and driven Assistant Restaurant Manager to support restaurant operations, lead teams, and deliver an unforgettable customer experience — all while having a little fun along the way.


Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12)

  • 2–3 years of restaurant management experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to lead and manage a team

  • Solid understanding of restaurant operations

Preferred:

  • More than 3 years of management experience

  • Valid driver’s license and own transport


Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Financial Management

  • Ensure accurate daily financial administration in line with Nando’s policies

  • Assist in managing expenses and achieving gross profit targets (stock, waste, shrinkage)

  • Monitor and improve business KPIs:

    • Sales (YoY growth, Budget vs Actual)

    • Gross Profit, Ticket Average, Customer Count, Complaints

    • Labour Turnover and Payroll vs Turnover

  • Track daily performance against targets

2. Operational Management

  • Oversee stock control, hygiene, and daily compliance (Health & Safety, Maintenance)

  • Support audits and corrective action plans

  • Ensure adherence to operational standards

3. People Management

  • Assist with weekly rosters and shift scheduling

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new staff

  • Monitor attendance and staff discipline

  • Provide feedback, escalate poor performance, and maintain training records

  • Ensure proper handover and shift procedures are followed

4. Marketing Management

  • Help implement national, regional, and local marketing campaigns

  • Respond to customer complaints in line with policy

  • Support improvements based on mystery shopper reports

  • Execute local marketing plans to increase sales

5. Stand-In Responsibilities

  • Fulfil the role of Restaurant Manager during their absence
