About the Role:
Tsebo’s Fedics division is seeking an Assistant Catering Manager for its Healthcare division in Pretoria. The role involves supporting the Catering Manager with day-to-day operations, ensuring quality food production, and maintaining hygiene and safety standards in line with industry regulations.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in meal, snack, and function preparation with a focus on quality and presentation

  • Support daily service operations, including lunch service

  • Participate in menu planning and costing

  • Place and receive orders, checking quality and quantity

  • Handle stock issuing and ensure proper storage and rotation

  • Maintain hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP, NOSA compliance)

  • Conduct on-the-job training and support staff development

  • Perform administrative tasks including salary variations and reports

  • Assist with regular stocktakes

  • Take initiative and lead in the absence of the Catering Manager

  • Attend training, meetings, and industry events/exhibitions


Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong people and interpersonal skills

  • Attention to detail and excellent organisational ability

  • Ability to supervise and train staff

  • Able to work under pressure and handle irregular hours, weekends, and public holidays

  • Good communication and computer literacy

  • Professional grooming and presentation

  • Capable of negotiation, delegation, and team coordination


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of Matric

  • At least 2 years’ supervisory experience in catering or the restaurant industry

  • Healthcare catering experience is advantageous
