Purpose of the Role:
The Cash & Banking Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate cashbook records, performing timely bank reconciliations, and supporting financial integrity through ledger and other reconciliation processes. The role contributes to the accuracy and reliability of the company’s financial operations.


Key Responsibilities:

Cashbook & Bank Reconciliations:

  • Maintain daily cashbook entries across all bank accounts using Sage 300 (Accpac)

  • Accurately process receipts and payments

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations

  • Investigate and resolve unmatched items or reconciling differences

  • Monitor bank activity and report cash positions as needed

General Ledger & Other Reconciliations:

  • Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations (bank control, petty cash, suspense accounts)

  • Perform credit card and intercompany reconciliations

  • Ensure complete supporting documentation and maintain an audit trail

Month-End & Reporting Support:

  • Assist with month-end close through timely finalisation of reconciliations and cashbooks

  • Prepare reconciliation packs for internal and external audits

  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies or gather documentation


Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field


Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years in a similar bank reconciliation role

  • Proven experience with high-volume, multi-bank account reconciliations

  • Exposure to multi-entry or high-transaction environments


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in Sage 300 (Accpac) is advantageous

  • Strong Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, filters)

  • High attention to detail and numerical accuracy

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

  • Understanding of internal controls and audit requirements
