Job Purpose
To conduct mechanical maintenance and repairs on small plant and agricultural/horticultural equipment used by the Parks, Leisure and Cemeteries Department.
Key Responsibilities

Collect, use, and return tools, materials, and machinery safely and in working order.

Perform routine and emergency repairs on small plant and related equipment.

Report any mechanical issues or suspected misuse.

Assist in recording, issuing, attaching, and detaching plant and agricultural tools/equipment.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment.

Apply Batho Pele principles when interacting with the public.

Handle minor complaints and escalate more complex issues.

Minimum Requirements

Educational: Grade 10 or NTC 2

Experience: 1 year relevant experience
Preferred Requirements (Advantageous but Not Mandatory)

Trade Tested Artisan in petrol, diesel, or small plant mechanics

Valid Code EC Driver’s License

2 years relevant experience
Special Conditions
-
Must be willing to work overtime when needed

May be required to act in different roles within the department

Small Plant Mechanic posts are interchangeable across the department
