Job Purpose:

To promote a strong Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) culture across the organization by coordinating SHE projects and governance efforts. The SHE Officer will ensure operational compliance with legislation, ISO standards, and internal policies, while supporting continuous improvement in SHE performance.


Key Performance Areas:

SHE Compliance

  • Develop and maintain SHE control standards, tools, and checklists

  • Identify and assess SHE risks in operational areas

  • Conduct inspections and audits (internal and external)

  • Maintain legal compliance registers (e.g., OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001)

  • Organize and train SHE committees and ensure meeting documentation

  • Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and remedial actions

Incident Investigations

  • Investigate and report workplace incidents and accidents

  • Compile documentation and use Non-Conformance systems to report findings

  • Update SHE management systems based on findings

SHE Project Coordination

  • Plan and coordinate SHE-related projects and initiatives

  • Support business units in implementing SHE initiatives

  • Track documentation, logistics, spend, and progress

  • Report on project success, compliance, and challenges

Reporting

  • Prepare reports on SHE performance, incidents, and statistics

  • Analyse data on absenteeism, occupational risks, and incidents

  • Recommend and follow through on preventative measures

  • Escalate non-conformances as per legislation and internal policy

Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Maintain communication with business units and SHE Committees

  • Act as liaison for SHE-related queries, concerns, and audits

  • Communicate and enforce SHE policies and standards

  • Provide support during audits and compliance reviews


Requirements:

Education

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

  • 3-Year Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Management (advantageous)

  • Certifications in:

    • Environmental Management (ISO 14001 / IEMA)

    • Health & Safety Management (OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001)

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Management

  • Experience in the gaming and hospitality industry is advantageous

Work Conditions

  • Ability to work shifts based on operational needs

  • Must be physically fit and mobile for site work
