Position Purpose
To operate and control plant and equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to quality specifications. The role includes monitoring processes, identifying deviations, responding to process upsets, and maintaining plant readiness.
Key Responsibilities

Assist process controllers in plant operations

Prepare plant for start-up and safely initiate processes

Monitor, control, and maintain process operations
-
Execute process shutdowns as needed
-
Operate Pellet Mills outside and maintain a clean working environment

Prepare plant for maintenance and restore operations post-maintenance
-
Conduct authorized basic maintenance tasks
-
Accurately measure, mix, and dose chemicals
-
Draw and test samples to ensure quality control
-
Package finished products into containers for shipping
-
Serve as first responder in fire and emergency situations

Perform any other tasks as required
Qualifications and Experience
-
Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 with Mathematics and Science (essential)

NQF 2 in Plant Operation (advantageous)

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a chemical production environment (essential)

Diploma in Chemical Engineering or related qualification (strongly advantageous)
