Company Overview:
Rand Refinery plays a key role in transforming raw precious metals into valuable products that benefit the African economy. The company is based in Germiston, Johannesburg.
Purpose of the Role:
To support daily operations in the FBI (Fluidized Bed Incinerator) and CRP (Copper Recovery Plant) sections by safely operating equipment and ensuring process targets are met under the guidance of the Shift Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities Include:

Maintain 95% uptime for FBI and CRP to meet production targets

Operate equipment safely and comply with SHEQ procedures
-
Report all incidents and near misses promptly
-
Implement efficiency suggestions from process leaders
-
Monitor product specs including copper and carbon content
-
Ensure accurate sampling, batching, and weight checking
-
Operate the mercury retort and monitor process parameters
-
Daily targets include:
-
Leaching 2 tons of atomized copper
-
Incinerating 3.6 tons of carbon
-
Electrowinning 2 tons of copper per week

Complete and submit production logs accurately
-
Provide performance feedback to the Supervisor
Minimum Requirements:

Completed Matric qualification
Skills and Competencies:
-
Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Effective communication skills
-
Ability to identify and report risks
Knowledge Requirements:
-
Production processes (leaching, electrowinning, fluidized bed incineration)
-
Fault detection and equipment operation
-
Familiarity with SHEQ standards and radiation compliance
