Job Purpose
To handle all Point of Sale (POS) transactions accurately, ensure proper documentation, and maintain excellent customer satisfaction. Ensure no stock leaves the store unpaid.


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 or at least 1 year of work experience

  • Ability to speak English and the dominant local language

  • Ability to perform accurate basic calculations

  • Strong administrative skills

  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

  • Ability to work well under pressure


Key Performance Areas

Cash Handling

  • Balance all allocated cash including floats and petty cash

  • Correctly scan and capture goods on the POS terminal

  • Accurately record the customer’s payment type

  • Maintain adequate change

  • Follow correct procedures for pick-ups and cash-ups

  • Drop daily takings into the drop safe or vault

  • Process transactions for other stores, deliveries, and quotes correctly

Administration

  • Sign, compile, and file all cashier-related documents

Ready for Business

  • Comply with “Ready for Business” and “Beyond My Control” standards

Customer Service

  • Deliver fast, friendly, and efficient service

  • Direct customers to relevant staff for assistance

  • Adhere to company dress code

Safety (OHSA)

  • Follow Occupational Health and Safety standards

  • Report discrepancies to the Store Manager

Security Awareness

  • Maintain system password control at the till

  • Safely transport cash to the cash office as required
