Job Purpose
South African Airways (SAA) is recruiting a Customer Service Agent to provide high-quality service to passengers at departures, boarding gates, arrivals, and baggage areas. The role involves verifying travel documents, assisting special needs passengers, and ensuring smooth airport operations.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent (NQF Level 4)
- Diploma in Travel & Tourism (advantageous)
- Customer service experience (advantageous)
- Passenger handling experience and knowledge of Amadeus CM (essential)
Key Responsibilities
- Assist passengers with check-in, boarding, and arrival processes
- Verify travel documents and process excess baggage charges
- Provide customer support during flight delays, disruptions, or denied boarding situations
- Assist unaccompanied minors, elderly, and disabled passengers
- Manage queues and self-service check-in areas
- Ensure compliance with airline safety and operational standards
- Handle mishandled, pilfered, and damaged baggage
- Liaise with work groups to resolve operational challenges
- Maintain detailed records and reports on baggage handling
Knowledge & Skills
- Passenger handling procedures and airline safety regulations
- Amadeus Altea Customer Management (CM)
- Baggage Management & Reconciliation Systems (BRS, World Tracer)
- Dangerous Goods Handling & Travel Document Verification
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Time management & adaptability in a fast-paced environment
