Role Overview
The Tyre Serviceman will perform various tasks related to tyre maintenance and servicing under supervision. The role requires a commitment to safety, customer satisfaction, and adherence to operational standards.
Key Performance Areas and Responsibilities
Operational Duties
- Perform tyre changes, repairs, and maintenance on various vehicles.
- Conduct equipment checks, calibrations, and inspections.
- Maintain accurate records of tyre-related activities.
- Operate forklifts, tyre handlers, and other equipment safely.
- Clean, paint, and test rim components for cracks and damage.
- Ensure tyre operating pressures meet site specifications.
- Deliver high-quality service to clients and perform other duties as required.
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow Occupational Health and Safety Procedures and client-specific policies.
- Adhere to “lock out” / “tag out” procedures and report hazards.
- Use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as per guidelines.
- Conduct vehicle pre-start checks and Risk Assessments.
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and emergency evacuations.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Grade 12 National Certificate.
- Valid Code 08 Light Vehicle Driver’s Licence (South Africa).
Preferred
- Grade 12 Certificate with Mathematics and Science.
- Valid Code 10 Heavy Vehicle Driver’s Licence (South Africa).
Key Competencies
- Ability to work under supervision and in compliance with safety regulations.
- Basic tyre-fitting skills and a willingness to develop further knowledge.
- Strong attention to detail, initiative, and common sense.
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
