Job Opportunity: Warehouse Picker

Location: Gauteng, South Africa

Job Purpose

The role involves picking stock efficiently and performing general warehouse duties.

Vacancies Available: 3 positions, all based in CSD.


Key Responsibilities

Picking

  • Gather and pack ordered items for shipping.
  • Ensure accurate and timely picking of items listed on slips.
  • Maintain a picking rate of at least 100 cases/hour.
  • Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) like pallet jacks and forklifts (*license required).
  • Utilize RF scanners (*for future development).

Housekeeping

  • Maintain high cleanliness standards in the warehouse.
  • Properly store and clean equipment.
  • Ensure stock stacking is secure and walkways are tidy.
  • Dispose of waste from floors and organize pallets promptly.

Stock Count Preparations

  • Assist in stock count preparations by isolating damaged stock and ensuring easy access to products.
  • Conduct daily stock counting when requested.
  • Report any issues with stock to the Warehouse Shift Controller.

Timekeeping

  • Adhere to clock-in/out schedules and minimize overtime.
  • Report late arrivals to the Shift Warehouse Controller.

Health and Safety Compliance

  • Follow health and safety regulations, including ISO standards.
  • Ensure safe work practices and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

Teamwork and Self-Management

  • Take ownership of tasks and plan efficiently.
  • Support team goals and demonstrate a willingness to assist others.
  • Ensure general loading accuracy and adhere to timekeeping and safety standards.

Key Relationships

Internal: Site management, warehouse teams, administration, transport.
External: Contract cleaning staff.


Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Matric (Grade 12).
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year in warehousing or a related function.

Knowledge

  • Warehouse stock handling processes and principles.
  • Inventory control management.
  • Understanding of shipments and stock-checking practices.

Skills

  • Computer literacy (MS Office).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic numerical aptitude.
  • Logical thinking and interpersonal skills.

Attributes

  • Tolerance for stress and pressure.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
