Purpose of the Role:
The Delivery Driver is responsible for safely operating assigned trucks, conducting pre-trip inspections, and ensuring accurate and timely delivery of goods. The role involves maintaining effective communication, adhering to safety and compliance standards, providing excellent customer service, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the transportation process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-inspection checks to ensure vehicle roadworthiness.
- Safely drive the assigned truck and comply with all traffic laws and company policies.
- Accurately deliver goods to customers, verifying products and obtaining proof of delivery.
- Maintain detailed records of daily activities, including mileage, fuel consumption, delivery receipts, and any incidents.
- Communicate professionally with customers, warehouse personnel, and other stakeholders.
- Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs promptly.
- Keep the truck clean, organized, and properly stocked with necessary equipment and documents.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety guidelines at all times.
- Participate in team meetings, coaching, and training sessions.
- Contribute to achieving the team's goals and support a safe work environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent.
- Experience: 3-5 years of proven driving experience, preferably within the FMCG Retail industry.
- Licenses: Valid Code 14 (EC) or Code 10 License with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships while embodying Econo Foods’ values.

- Ability to perform in a fast-paced and competitive environment.
- Excellent communication skills in English (both verbal and written).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
