DHL Supply Chain South Africa is seeking a Junior Cross Border Controller to join their team in Kempton Park.
Role Overview
The Junior Controller supports and coordinates daily transport operations with a focus on cross-border logistics. This role ensures regulatory compliance, efficient cargo movement, and provides operational support to drivers, clients, and internal teams to uphold service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Transport Planning & Coordination

Assist with planning and scheduling of local and cross-border deliveries

Monitor vehicle routes and driver assignments
-
Track shipments in real time to ensure timely deliveries
Cross-Border Operations
-
Coordinate with customs agents, border officials, and clearing houses
-
Prepare and ensure compliance of all cross-border documentation
-
Monitor turnaround times and address delays
Operational Control
-
Capture and verify transport data (trip sheets, fuel usage, PODs)
-
Perform fleet checks (vehicle availability, licenses, maintenance)

Escalate delays, compliance issues, or breakdowns
Compliance & Safety
-
Support compliance with internal SOPs and road transport regulations
-
Document and report incidents or accidents
Stakeholder Engagement
-
Communicate with drivers and update them on schedules and documentation
-
Liaise with internal teams (Finance, Customs, Warehousing) and external service providers
-
Provide client support for delivery and cross-border status updates

Timely departure and delivery (local and cross-border)

Administrative Duties

Maintain the Combined Load Register daily
-
Prepare and update tracking reports for key clients (e.g., BJK, Heineken, Coca-Cola)

Capture and maintain load data in Load Pad

Distribute consignment notes and follow up on schedules and PODs
-
Document damages and manage CHEP slips
-
Support document vetting for import/export
-
Relieve weekend and leave period operations
Minimum Requirements
-
Matric (Grade 12)
-
Diploma or Degree in Logistics or Transport Management (advantageous)

1–3 years’ experience in transport/logistics (cross-border preferred)

Knowledge of customs processes and cross-border documentation

Computer literacy (MS Office, transport systems)

Analytical and numerical skills

Able to document procedures and draw process flow diagrams
