Job Overview
The University of Cape Town (UCT) is inviting applications for two IT Service Desk Consultant positions within the Customer Services Division of Information & Communication Technology Services (ICTS).
The Customer Services Division is responsible for the University's IT Service Desk, student computer lab management, IT installations, classroom support services, service level agreements, training, and ICT communication to the University community.
The IT Service Desk provides telephone support, including the University's switchboard, as well as desktop support to UCT staff and students.
UCT is seeking dynamic, motivated and organised individuals to join the IT Service Desk team and provide effective ICT support to staff and students both telephonically and onsite.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Grade 12 or a technical equivalent qualification.
Current A+ certification (not older than 3 years), Microsoft certification, Apple Mac certification, or an equivalent qualification.
At least 2 years' relevant work experience in a customer-focused IT support environment.
An unendorsed Code 8 driver's licence.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for:
Capturing and recording IT support requests.
Researching and providing accurate and comprehensive solutions to customers via telephone and onsite support.
Participating in team projects.
Contributing to research and development of ICT services and products.
Coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
Required Skills and Competencies
Candidates should demonstrate:
Excellent working knowledge of common IT hardware and software applications.
A strong customer-service ethic.
Excellent problem-solving skills relating to Microsoft and Apple Mac environments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong business and technical writing abilities.
The ability to coach and mentor junior colleagues.
Remuneration
The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is:
R336 151 – R531 313 per annum
