Main Purpose of the Job

To respond to emergency calls and provide intermediate life support and medical care, in line with the applicable scope of practice.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full operational readiness to respond to emergency calls

  • Administer patient care according to scope of practice

  • Promote and maintain a professional public image for ER24


Education Requirements

Essential:

  • Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate or

  • Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care

Desired:

  • Completion of Clinical Practice Guidelines training (as published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa)

  • If not yet compliant with the guidelines, you must complete this training during your probation period if appointed


Experience Requirements

Minimum:

  • 1 year of EMS (Emergency Medical Services) experience

Preferred:

  • 1 year of Intermediate Life Support (ILS) experience


Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Knowledge of best practices in emergency medical care

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)

  • Familiarity with facilities, travel routes, and local geography

  • Understanding of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice

  • Ability to complete and manage Patient Report Forms

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
