Role Overview:

You will lead the inventory team by planning, coordinating, supervising, and reporting on all inventory activities. You will ensure inventory integrity, meet contractual KPIs, and minimize stock loss liabilities while motivating and developing your team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate inventory control exceeding customer and DHL KPI expectations.

  • Plan and manage stock counts and inventory audits.

  • Develop and maintain inventory processes aligned with warehouse management systems and Order Management System (OMS) principles.

  • Produce and analyze stock KPI reports; recommend improvements to Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Implement procedures to monitor and minimize stock losses.

  • Conduct daily reconciliations and ensure inventory team meets daily targets.

  • Monitor stock movements and report operational issues.

  • Maintain constant communication with the operational team.

  • Train and develop inventory team members to ensure adherence to control procedures.

  • Implement and maintain cycle counting and perpetual inventory processes.

  • Understand and mitigate DHL's contractual stock loss liabilities.

  • Produce accurate and timely management reports.

  • Manage and motivate the inventory team, ensuring adequate coverage across all shifts.

  • Follow OMS principles, including regular one-on-one meetings with team members.

  • Lead stock recalls, ensuring accurate feedback and physical stock reconciliation.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the inventory team.

  • Manage team budgeted hours and control costs.


Skills & Experience Required:

  • Strong relationship management and cultural sensitivity.

  • Negotiation and project management skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Analytical and problem-solving approach.

  • Process management and presentation skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

  • Experience with SAP is advantageous.


Education & Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) minimum.

  • Fully computer literate with advanced MS Office skills.

  • 3–5 years’ experience in inventory and warehouse environments.

  • Understanding of logistics market trends and challenges.

  • Experience working within budget constraints.
