Purpose of the Role
The General Miner holds legal accountability for construction and blasting under MHSA regulations. The role includes executing various mining tasks, such as moving people, materials, and ore, as well as underground construction work.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct safety inspections to ensure working areas are safe

Enforce adherence to safety and mining standards

Communicate and apply operating procedures to team members
-
Handle explosives and prepare blasting areas safely

Liaise regularly with supervisors and the mining team

Compile and submit accurate shift reports
-
Ensure availability of checklists and job instructions
-
Monitor work and ensure compliance with mining standards
Minimum Qualifications
-
Grade 12 (Matric)
-
National Certificate NQF Level 3 Rock Breaker or Valid Underground Blasting Certificate (Hard Rock)
Experience Requirements
-
1 to 3 years’ experience as a Miner or Crew Captain
-
Trackless mining experience is advantageous
