Thorburn Security Solutions is looking for an Area Manager. Reporting to the Regional Managing Director, the Area Manager coordinates the provision of contractual and ad hoc security services to customers in accordance with legislation, PSIRA regulations, Company policies to ensure that the budgeted financial targets are achieved.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct Wage control (overtime) and Overheads; ensure contract contribution aligns with budget forecast

  • Effective Organisation: analyse staff turnover to allocate employees in line with contract/site requirements

  • Manage rosters and shift patterns in accordance with PRP

  • Manage time & attendance (overtime, annual and sick leave)

  • Provide employee engagement platforms including parade attendance

  • Conduct regular performance assessments and provide corrective feedback to subordinate employees

  • Maintain employee discipline in accordance with code of conduct and legislation

  • Deploy PSIRA registered officers at sites

  • Ensure armed response officers under supervision are certified according to Regulation 21

  • Retain clients by delivering customer service in accordance with SLAs

  • Conduct regular service audits and implement corrective actions

  • Resolve customer queries quickly

  • Maintain open communication with clients per escalation procedures

  • Manage Security Operations as per site specifications & PSIRA standards

  • Reduce unplanned absenteeism for maximum site coverage

  • Control overtime caused by absenteeism

  • Prevent claims against the company through customer risk assessments

  • Ensure all services are invoiced accurately and paid on time

  • Communication at all organizational levels

  • Firearm competency (business use) is an advantage

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent

  • Driver’s License

  • PSIRA Grade A

  • Post Matric qualification is an added advantage

  • Handgun, Shotgun, and Rifle Firearm competency for business use is advantageous
