Job Purpose:

To safely operate a Reach Stacker and carry out all container handling activities in compliance with Bidvest International Logistics Standard Operating Procedures and performance targets.

Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent
Code C45 license (Reach Stacker – 45 Tons capacity)

Experience:

2–3 years of Reach Stacker operation experience
2+ years using Warehouse Management Systems (for picking & binning)

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Duties:

Load, offload, place, and move shipping containers in the yard safely
Meet daily targets for container movements
Perform accurate system updates after each container transaction
Check containers against BIL QA standards
Ensure container placement is done safely and efficiently
Handle discrepancies and report container/location issues

Machine Operation:

Perform pre- and post-shift inspections of the Reach Stacker
Keep the machine clean and well-maintained
Report irregularities immediately
Adhere to machine manual and training standards

Administrative & Reporting:

Maintain machine registers and logs
Participate in daily briefings and blue area discussions
Complete and submit incident reports promptly
Assist supervisors when required

General:

Ensure compliance with PPE, SHE policies, ISO, and company procedures
Support 5S principles in the yard and on machinery
Be flexible and available for overtime work

Skills & Competencies:

Knowledge:

Container handling and stacking methods
Safety and inspection protocols for Reach Stackers
SOPs and QWIs
5S workplace organization methodology

Skills:

Precise and efficient container handling
Safe reversing and turning using swivel truck/trailer combos
Basic fault detection on Reach Stackers
Good English communication (speaking, reading, writing)
