Purpose of the Job
The purpose of the Marketing Trainee role is to support the Marketing Department in executing strategic initiatives that drive sales, differentiate brands, and deliver customer value. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to the dynamic FMCG retail environment within Africa’s largest retail group.
The trainee will contribute to the development and implementation of brand strategies and campaigns by conducting research, analysing data, and working with various internal teams to generate actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct marketing research and monitor trends relevant to supermarket brands

Assist in formulating and planning new marketing initiatives
-
Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing plans
-
Ensure alignment of all communications with the brand strategy
-
Support media selection in line with marketing strategy
-
Assist in coordinating promotional and advertising activities
-
Manage daily marketing tasks and administrative functions
-
Work with campaign budgets under supervision
-
Analyse sales data to inform promotional planning and execution

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal business stakeholders

Provide marketing support across divisions
-
Act as a liaison between internal clients and external agencies

Deliver clear and effective agency briefs

Support project planning and implementation within budget and time constraints
-
Participate in ongoing performance review and continuous feedback processes
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:

Grade 12 / Matric – Essential

Degree in Marketing or relevant qualification – Essential
Experience:
-
1+ years of marketing experience – Beneficial

Experience in a retail environment – Beneficial
Knowledge and Skills:

Sound understanding of marketing principles and practices – Essential

Strong analytical and research abilities

Excellent communication and coordination skills
