Main Purpose:
Minimise financial risk by ensuring proper authorisation and re-authorisation of all patient cases through effective communication with relevant parties.
Key Responsibilities:

Obtain authorisation and re-authorisation for all identified patients to ensure claims are fully paid

Capture data and communicate with all relevant parties
-
Identify and refer risk cases to minimise financial risks
-
Adhere to clinical coding standards (Level 2 coding)

Ensure compliance with confirmation procedures, contracts, and legal requirements using available systems and resources
Required Education:

Essential: Grade 12 or equivalent

Required Experience:

Desired: Experience in a clinical environment
Required Skills and Knowledge:

Understanding of funder contracts and medical aid requirements

Familiarity with patient administration systems (AS400)

Knowledge of rules/regulations regarding funder contracts

Clinical coding Level 2

Experience with B2B EMS (electronic messaging system) for authorisations and troubleshooting

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Knowledge of relevant statutory acts (Consumer Protection Act, PMB, etc.)

Patient admin policies and procedures (confidentiality, external case managers, etc.)

Daily workflow management, deviance handling, coding, and case management

Ability to identify financial risks such as missing authorisations or insufficient length of stay
