About the Role
Hollard’s Group Human Capital Division is looking for a Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO). This is not a traditional HR role—it focuses on embedding a purpose-driven culture, enhancing talent engagement, and driving innovative people practices.
As a key executive team member, the CHRO will work closely with the Board and Exco to align human capital strategies with business objectives. The role will lead the transition to a leader-led HR model, ensuring that leaders are equipped with the necessary tools, policies, and frameworks to manage their teams effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Management
- Define and implement a Human Capital strategy aligned with Hollard’s purpose and values.
- Partner with the Board and Exco to integrate human capital initiatives into business strategies.
- Drive culture, talent development, and employee value proposition (EVP) initiatives.
Change Management
- Lead the HR operating model transformation to a leader-led approach.
- Ensure workforce readiness by integrating technology and AI into HR functions.
Organisational Development
- Build a culture of purpose, engagement, and balance within Hollard.
- Lead leadership development and organisational design initiatives.
- Drive the creation of a high-performing, diverse, and innovative workforce.
People Management
- Oversee talent acquisition, development, and retention strategies.
- Develop and implement reward and recognition programs.
- Engage with the Board’s Remuneration Committee to align rewards with performance and culture.
Operations and Execution
- Ensure HR operations align with business objectives and resource optimization.
- Harmonise HR practices between South African and international operations.
Executive-Level Priorities
- Culture: Strengthen alignment with Hollard’s values and mission.
- Talent: Implement engagement strategies that drive performance.
- EVP: Enhance the employee value proposition, including reward strategies.
- Define a future skills strategy for Hollard’s workforce.
Required Knowledge and Experience
Skills and Experience
- 15+ years of progressive HR/People leadership experience.
- Proven ability to drive HR transformation in complex, technology-integrated environments.
- Expertise in leadership, culture development, and organisational design.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience using data for strategic decision-making.
- Experience engaging directly with Boards and governance structures.
- Exposure to private shareholding structures and purpose-driven business models.

Educational Requirements
