Position Overview
The Credit Clerk will play a vital role in managing accounts payable by reconciling invoices, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely payments.
Key Responsibilities
- Invoice Processing: Ensure invoices are processed accurately within the correct financial period.
- Reconciliations: Match invoices with supplier statements and process payments within agreed terms.
- Monthly Accruals: Prepare and process necessary accruals.
- Accounts Payable Reports: Maintain and update all relevant reports.
- Financial Compliance: Adhere to company financial controls and validate costs.
- Documentation: Safeguard all financial documents.
- Ad hoc Tasks: Perform additional duties as directed by management.
Qualification Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) is mandatory.
- A qualification in Accounting will be advantageous.
Experience Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in accounts payable, preferably within the FMCG or financial sector.
Key Competencies
- Numerical Ability: Strong math and financial skills.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and financial systems such as Great Plains.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Planning and Organization: Effective time management and attention to detail.
- Analytical Thinking: Problem-solving and cost review capabilities.
- Flexibility: Adaptable to changes and able to handle ad hoc tasks.
- Results Orientation: Sense of urgency in meeting deadlines.
Working Conditions
- Pressurized Environment: Handle tasks efficiently in a high-pressure setting.
- Schedule: 6-day position requiring availability on weekends and public holidays as per the roster.
- Additional Hours: Overtime may be required during month-end, financial year-end, or as needed by management.
