Position Overview
We are seeking 4 General Workers to join our team on a fixed-term contract basis. The successful candidates will assist in ensuring a clean and safe working environment across our yard, workshops, and office areas. The role involves following specific work instructions and adhering to legal and safety requirements, contributing to smooth and efficient operations within the Logistics Services Unit.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Additional qualifications such as a valid driver’s license will be an advantage
Experience:
- Previous experience in cleaning and maintenance of yards, workshops, or office areas
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Effective time management skills
- Conflict resolution abilities
Knowledge:
- Familiarity with cleaning procedures and work instructions
- Basic understanding of safety regulations and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements
Attributes:
- Results-driven with a focus on completing tasks efficiently
- High attention to detail and analytical skills
- Self-disciplined and motivated
Key Responsibilities
Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ):
- Ensure adherence to SHEQ policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
General Authorities:
- Follow all lawful instructions from supervisors and managers.
- Assist in general upkeep and maintenance of assigned areas.
Specific Work Activities:
- Perform cleaning tasks as required in the yard, workshops, and offices.
- Ensure that tools and equipment are handled safely and stored properly.
General Responsibilities:
- Assist in basic maintenance tasks and other duties as directed by the supervisor.
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to the relevant authority.
