Job Advert Summary
The Gardener will be part of the Environmental Management Services (EMS) team. The role involves maintaining and developing landscapes and facilities using various horticultural tools, machines, and equipment in a labor-intensive environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Six months of relevant garden/nursery experience.
- Ability to operate horticultural machinery, such as brush cutters, clearing saws, and lawnmowers.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols.
Primary Duties
- Grounds Maintenance: Maintain lawns, including mowing and trimming, and assist in constructing new lawns.
- Plant Care: Clean, sweep, weed, and water plants as required.
- Fertilizer Application: Apply fertilizers, compost, and chemicals following instructions.
- Debris Management: Remove and load debris, maintaining cleanliness of the area.
- Equipment Use: Operate specialized horticultural machinery, such as handheld blowers, lawnmowers, and brush cutters.
- Support Tasks: Assist with decorations and minor construction tasks as needed.
Knowledge
- Proficient in operating gardening tools and equipment, such as brush cutters and push-type lawn mowers.
- Basic knowledge of different plant types and care requirements.
Skills
- Horticultural Skills: Proficiency in gardening and plant maintenance.
- Ability to effectively use various horticultural equipment.
- Problem-Solving: Address gardening-related issues efficiently.
