Purpose of the Role:
The Delivery Driver Assistant supports the delivery process by assisting the driver in transporting products to customers. This role involves presenting Proof of Delivery (POD) documents, verifying payments, and aiding in loading and unloading products. The assistant plays a crucial part in ensuring efficient deliveries, customer satisfaction, and accurate record-keeping.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the driver in delivering products to customer locations, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
- Present POD documents to customers, obtain signatures, and accurately document delivery information.
- Complete invoice correction forms as needed to resolve any discrepancies.
- Verify customer payments (cash or checks) following established procedures.
- Support loading and unloading of products, following safety protocols to prevent damage.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving minor issues.
- Navigate delivery routes using maps or GPS, providing directions as needed.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, documenting returned or damaged products.
- Keep the delivery vehicle clean and ensure safekeeping of products during transport.
- Maintain organized delivery documentation, including PODs, invoices, and payment receipts.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Foster a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Contribute to the achievement of team goals and operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a warehousing or logistics role, preferably within the FMCG Retail industry.
Competencies Required:
- Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships.
- Friendly, confident, humble, and a good team player.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Good time management, thoroughness, and professionalism.
