Role Summary
The Miner: Development is responsible for controlling and coordinating the development mining process. This involves optimal utilization of personnel and equipment to meet targets according to the mining plan, ensuring safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and monitor development mining activities to ensure compliance with operational targets and mine standards

Plan activities in line with the mining plan and allocate resources accordingly

Manage shift handovers, including checking documentation and communicating tasks to team members

Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and safety regulations

Lead and supervise a development mining crew, fostering teamwork and operational efficiency
Qualifications & Experience

Grade 12 / N3 or equivalent (NQF Level 4)

Blasting Certificate for Underground Hard Rock or equivalent

Minimum 3-5 years of underground mining experience as a Development Miner, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role

Strong knowledge of underground mining practices, trackless mining, and relevant safety legislation

Code B Driver’s License

Medical fitness certificate for underground work
Additional Requirements

Willingness to work shifts, standby duties, call-outs, and overtime as required

Successful completion of pre-employment checks (qualification verification, psychometric assessments, security clearance)
