Job Purpose

To coordinate and execute fleet management policies and practices ensuring the availability of a safe, compliant, and cost-effective fleet for the Service Centre. The role involves overseeing drivers, monitoring fleet costs, and ensuring operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct driver briefings and debriefings in line with company standards
Monitor and manage vehicle operating costs and driver performance
Support compliance with national road regulations and internal standards
Coordinate vehicle licensing, maintenance, and servicing
Maintain accurate fleet records and documentation
Use fleet systems (e.g. Fleet Vision, ABSA Fleet) to track and manage operations
Liaise with suppliers and service providers as needed
Provide customer-focused logistics support
Demonstrate multi-skilling ability to assist in other operational areas when needed
Promote effective self-management and teamwork

Competencies & Skills Required

Technical & Legal Knowledge

Strong understanding of National Road Traffic Act and transport legislation
Knowledge of vehicle servicing and maintenance cycles
Familiarity with fleet management systems (e.g. Fleet Vision, ABSA Fleet)

Administrative & Operational Skills

Record-keeping and fleet cost tracking
Basic numeracy and literacy skills
Excellent computer literacy
Understanding of customer service principles
