Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing in-specification batches of products at the PNP Plant. This includes raw material handling, production, equipment operation, basic maintenance, and quality control to ensure safe and efficient plant operation.


Key Responsibilities

Raw Material Handling

  • Verify receipt of correct raw materials based on job cards

  • Coordinate with raw materials, planning, and production departments

  • Issue, store, and handle raw materials as per procedures

Production & Plant Operation

  • Ensure vessels and pipes are cleaned to avoid cross-contamination

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions

  • Take and submit product samples as required

  • Complete production log sheets and quality control records

  • Operate a forklift (must be medically fit and licensed)

  • Meet production and packaging quality standards

  • Maintain plant cleanliness and safety

Quality & Safety

  • Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

  • Assist with stock counts and report quality issues to the Team Leader

  • Sign job cards and quality control documentation

  • Report non-conformance issues promptly

  • Participate in periodic retraining and safety observations

Maintenance

  • Keep equipment in safe and functional condition

  • Identify and maintain critical spares

  • Report breakdowns and oversee timely repairs

  • Supervise external maintenance contractors

  • Minimise plant downtime and costs

  • Coordinate preventative maintenance activities

Research & Development

  • Assist R&D with trial batches of new products

General Duties

  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Team Leader or Management

  • Support problem-solving efforts

  • Work in different areas of the plant when required


Qualifications & Experience

  • Matric / Grade 12 (essential)

  • Chemical plant operations diploma or certificate (advantageous)

  • Valid forklift license and medically fit to operate a forklift

  • Minimum 1 year experience in chemical plant production

  • Basic computer literacy

  • Able to work both independently and in a team

  • Knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems and safety compliance
