About the School:
St Peter’s College is an independent Anglican Diocesan school for boys and girls in Grades 8 to 12. Located in northern Sandton, the school aims to develop each learner’s individual potential through an inclusive and holistic educational approach encompassing academics, culture, sport, spirituality, and community engagement.


Purpose of the Role:
To teach Afrikaans to Grade 8–12 students, using diverse teaching strategies and technology, and to support learners’ academic and personal development in a dynamic, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate Afrikaans lessons using various teaching methods and technologies

  • Set clear learning objectives and develop structured lesson plans and materials

  • Apply differentiated instruction to accommodate learners’ diverse needs

  • Use a mix of traditional and alternative assessment tools to monitor academic progress

  • Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Work collaboratively with other educators to support students

  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student performance

  • Support school administration and uphold all policies and procedures

  • Take part in non-instructional responsibilities and broader school activities


Minimum Requirements:

  • Post-matric tertiary qualification with Afrikaans as a major

  • 3–5 years’ experience teaching Afrikaans (Grades 8–12)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Registered with SACE (South African Council for Educators)

  • Valid Police Clearance Certificate
