Job Description
The General Assistant is responsible for providing comprehensive customer service in the store, ensuring stock is merchandised according to planograms, maintaining housekeeping standards, and supporting store safety and stock control initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 10 / NQF Level 3 with 1 year related work experience, OR
-
Grade 12 with no experience

Able to communicate in English and the local language

Valid South African ID or work permit
-
Ability to perform basic calculations accurately

Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
-
Must be able to work under pressure
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service

Advise and assist customers with products and queries

Handle and resolve customer complaints
Merchandising Standards
-
Merchandise stock in bulk and shelf areas according to layout plans
-
Maintain full stock levels and correct planogram setups
Housekeeping
-
Keep designated area clear of obstacles
-
Ensure immediate merchandising of received stock

Maintain accurate shelf price labeling
-
Complete canteen and toilet/shower cleaning schedules
Safety (OHSA Compliance)

Use safety gear and comply with safety standards

Ensure safe merchandising of stock

Report safety risks or issues to the Store Manager
Stock Loss Management

Report damaged stock to the Store Manager
