Job Purpose

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for an experienced Cashier at their Clearwater Mall store. The role focuses on delivering excellent customer service at the point of sale and ensuring accurate processing of transactions while maintaining fraud prevention standards.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 / Matric

Experience:

• At least 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations

Other Requirements:

• Computer literate (MS Office)

• Basic customer service skills

• Sound numerical skills

• Strong English communication skills

• Willing and able to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

• Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service procedures

• Build professional relationships with customers

• Report compliments and complaints to supervisors or management

• Adhere to hourly customer turnover targets

• Stay informed on sales and promotions

• Maintain a safe environment for staff and customers

• Use proper communication as per Dis-Chem’s 5-star principles

• Handle cash flow responsibly

• Ensure all voids and price changes are authorized

• Process exchanges and returns when permitted

• Transact all forms of payments accurately

• Process loyalty cards and partner program cards

• Follow SOPs when placing cash in the drop safe

• Keep login details secure and confidential

• Make sure all items leaving the store are paid for

• Handle daily takings securely and discreetly

• Report suspicious behavior to management

• Help customers with product queries

• Adhere to security policies and procedures
