Job Purpose

GALXBOY is seeking an experienced and results-driven Store Manager to oversee daily store operations in Vanderbijlpark. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales performance, managing staff, maintaining operational standards, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a passion for retail management.

Key Responsibilities

Sales and Business Development

  • Drive and achieve store targets, including UPT (Units Per Transaction), ATV (Average Transaction Value), and turnover.

  • Lead the sales team by example and motivate staff to achieve individual and store sales goals.

  • Deliver and promote outstanding customer service standards.

  • Conduct market research and analyse local business trends.

  • Provide relevant market feedback to management and support departments.

Team Management

  • Develop and coach staff through regular meetings, training sessions, and performance management.

  • Ensure attendance registers are completed and maintained.

  • Communicate company updates, operational changes, and important information to all team members.

  • Conduct performance reviews and recommend training and development plans.

  • Prepare staff rosters in line with company staffing requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate stock records and minimise stock losses.

  • Process deliveries promptly, including checking quantities, pricing, tagging, steaming, and capturing stock on the system.

  • Ensure the stockroom remains clean, organised, and efficient for stock replenishment.

  • Conduct weekly and monthly stock counts and stock takes.

  • Submit accurate stock reports and manage inventory transfers and returns to the warehouse.

  • Monitor inventory levels and place stock orders when required.

Operations Management

  • Manage staff attendance and implement opening and closing procedures.

  • Reconcile cash-up reports and investigate discrepancies.

  • Monitor and control store expenses, including stationery, refreshments, cleaning supplies, and communication costs.

  • Implement and monitor risk management and loss prevention procedures.

  • Process customer refunds and exchanges according to company policy.

  • Compile and submit monthly operational reports and management dashboards.

  • Ensure all required training records and documentation are completed and filed correctly.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate (required).

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (advantageous).

  • Minimum of 3 years’ retail management experience.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.

  • Customer service-focused with sound business management knowledge.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and achieve sales targets.
