Purpose of the Role:

To manage patient admissions and discharges professionally, ensuring compliance with procedures to minimise operational and financial risks and deliver excellent service.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture and process admissions, pre-admissions, and bookings

  • Ensure proper discharge processes

  • Identify and manage financial risks (e.g. blacklisted patients)

  • Uphold patient confidentiality

  • Adhere to Patient Administration policies and protocols


Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Grade 12 or equivalent

  • Experience: None required (experience in reception or private healthcare is an advantage)


Skills & Knowledge:

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office; AS400 system)

  • Knowledge of hospital switchboard systems and admin procedures

  • Understanding of ICD/CPT codes and medical aid schemes

  • Familiarity with the Workmen’s Compensation Act (WCA)

  • Emergency protocol awareness (fire, floods, robbery, etc.)

  • Strong organisational and communication skills
