Purpose of the Role:

To support the Catering Manager in daily operations of healthcare catering services, ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene, administration, and team supervision.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in meal preparation, service, and presentation

  • Place supplier orders and manage stock (receiving, storage, rotation)

  • Monitor hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP & NOSA compliance)

  • Support menu planning and cost control

  • Train and supervise catering staff

  • Handle admin tasks (e.g., salary variations, stocktaking, reports)

  • Act as manager in their absence

  • Attend training sessions and participate in industry exhibitions


Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong people and supervisory skills

  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure

  • Good communication and grooming

  • Willing to work weekends/public holidays

  • Computer literate

  • Able to delegate and negotiate


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Matric (Grade 12)

  • Experience:

    • 2+ years in catering/restaurant industry at supervisory level

    • Healthcare catering experience is advantageous
